Channeling

Channeling is the claimed ability to receive telepathic or mediumistic communication directly from an alien or extradimensional intelligence, without any craft, sighting, or physical encounter required at all — purely a mental or spiritual connection, often conducted in trance and transcribed for followers. It is best understood as the contactee movement's New Age descendant: where 1950s contactees like Howard Menger claimed physical meetings and craft rides with their "Space Brothers," modern channelers claim the same benevolent-message content — planetary evolution, cosmic love, warnings about humanity's trajectory — but arrive at it purely through claimed inner communion rather than an external, witnessable event. That shift matters evidentially: channeled messages produce no sighting reports, no photographs, and no witnesses beyond the channeler and their audience, placing the practice entirely outside the observational, case-file-based tradition that most of ufology, for better or worse, has tried to hold itself to since Blue Book. Skeptics treat channeling as functionally indistinguishable from historical spirit mediumship with an extraterrestrial theme substituted for ghosts, while practitioners and their communities treat it as a legitimate, ongoing continuation of contact that simply doesn't require a physical UFO sighting. Pleiadian and Arcturian channeling communities remain an active, commercially significant corner of contemporary UFO culture.
