Light Beings / Energy Forms

Also known as: Orb Entities, Luminous Figures

First known report
Continuous with millennia of religious apparition literature (a lineage Vallée and Eric Ouellet both emphasize); in UFO-era case files, the 1977 Colares 'chupa-chupa' beams and countless bedroom-visitor accounts define the type.
Relative frequency
common as a report motif, though rarely coded as an 'entity' in databases — the boundary between object and being is at its blurriest here

Physical description

Entities reported as made of or wrapped in light: glowing silhouettes, self-luminous orbs that behave with apparent intention, columns of light containing indistinct figures. Common in religiously framed accounts and central to the Colares attacks, where the beams themselves seemed agent-like — targeting, tracking, and burning specific victims rather than simply illuminating.

Skeptical reading

This is where perception science does its heaviest lifting: hypnagogic photisms, migraine auras, ball lightning, and the brain's agency-detection bias can each generate a subjective 'being of light.' The religious continuity cuts both ways — skeptics see one human experience-generator producing angels, then saints, then aliens; Vallée saw one external phenomenon wearing whichever mask each era expects of it.
