Kevin D. Randle

Kevin Randle is a retired U.S. Army lieutenant colonel and helicopter pilot with combat service in Vietnam and the Gulf War who, alongside Donald Schmitt, conducted the most extensive civilian investigation of the Roswell incident, interviewing hundreds of witnesses over more than a decade for UFO Crash at Roswell (1991) and The Truth About the UFO Crash at Roswell (1994). Randle brought a military officer's procedural instincts to witness interviewing and documentation, and unlike some Roswell researchers, he has been willing to publicly revise his own conclusions as new evidence emerged, including retracting or downgrading some previously cited witness testimony he later judged unreliable — a rare instance of a leading proponent openly correcting the case's evidentiary record rather than defending every claim indefinitely. This willingness to self-correct has earned him credibility even among skeptics, while some fellow believers have criticized him for conceding too much ground. Beyond Roswell, Randle has written prolifically across UFO history, military history, and fiction, maintaining an active blog and YouTube presence into the 2020s that mixes case analysis with sharp critique of sloppy research and hoaxes within the UFO community itself. He remains one of the field's most durable and self-critical voices, still actively investigating and publishing more than 35 years after his first Roswell book.
