Rony Vernet

Rony Vernet, full name Rony Tadeu Vernet Braga, is a Brazilian electronics and computer engineer who graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in 2010 and now works as a senior engineer at Transpetro (Petrobras) while pursuing a professional master's degree in experimental high-energy physics at the Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Físicas (CBPF), a technical background he applies directly to UAP field research through instrumentation and formal document requests rather than witness testimony alone. Beginning around 2020, he used Brazil's 2011 Access to Information Law (LAI) to compel the Brazilian Air Force, Federal Police, the Federal Prosecutors' Office, and the National Indigenous Foundation (Funai) to release official records on reported anomalous aerial encounters among Amazon indigenous communities, publishing the resulting documents through UAP Brazil, the research site he founded. His work culminated in the June-July 2024 Missão UAP Amazônia, a roughly week-long expedition — reached by a two-day river journey — to a Yawanawá village in Acre state, where he installed a monitoring station combining five cameras, including a 25x-zoom robotic camera and an all-sky camera, with eleven sensors covering infrared, magnetometry, radio, microwave, radiation, infrasound, and atmospheric data, later releasing footage he described as a luminous aerial sweep. On June 24, 2022, Vernet addressed a Brazilian Senate public hearing on UFOs, convened by Senator Eduardo Girão, discussing the Brazilian Air Force's 1977 Operação Prato investigation of the Colares "chupa-chupa" wave alongside the more recent Amazon cases. He appeared as a featured researcher on History Channel's The Proof Is Out There in October 2025 and continues publishing declassified Air Force pilot-sighting reports obtained via FOIA.
