Metallic Ape-Beings
Also known as: The Petare Creature
- First known report
- Petare, near Caracas, Venezuela, November 28, 1954 — before dawn, two truck drivers say they seized a short, hairy, immensely strong creature beside a hovering luminous sphere; a struggle followed before the creature broke free, one of Latin America's earliest documented physical-contact cases and part of the same November 1954 Venezuelan cluster that also produced the Cerro de las Tres Torres hairy-humanoid reports.
- Relative frequency
- singular — a tightly localized case, but frequently cited as Latin America's earliest hands-on entity encounter, predating Kelly-Hopkinsville by nine months
Reconstruction based on witness descriptions
Physical description
A short, powerfully built, ape- or monkey-like biped reported with unusually hard, cold, metallic-feeling skin rather than fur or hide — witnesses who physically grappled with it described the sensation as closer to touching a machine than an animal, despite its otherwise organic, muscular body and simian face.
Skeptical reading
No physical evidence survived the encounter beyond witness testimony given decades after the fact in secondhand retellings, and the 'metallic skin' detail is unusually difficult to reconcile with any known animal, which invites skeptics to treat the case as either substantially embellished in retelling or a genuine hoax within a Venezuelan wave already flooded with copycat reports that November. Believers note the physical, hands-on nature of the contact is harder to wave off as a simple light misidentification than the sphere sighting alone would have been.
