The Reptilian as a global conspiracy archetype is largely a 1990s creation via David Icke's books, separate from the earlier, more modest field-report tradition.

Physical description
Tall (2-2.7 m) bipedal reptiles: scaled green-brown skin, vertical-slit pupils in yellow or gold eyes, muscular builds, sometimes tails or ridged skulls. Reported demeanor ranges from indifferent to overtly menacing; almost never described as communicative in ordinary speech, though some accounts (Zanfretta) claim telepathic contact through touch.
Skeptical reading
The entity with the widest gap between folklore volume and field reports. Psychologically it recycles the oldest human predator archetype (the serpent, per Jung and evolutionary threat-detection theory); sociologically, Icke's 'reptilian elite' is a conspiracy framework layered onto — not derived from — the earlier witness record. Sleep-paralysis subjects occasionally report reptilian intruders, consistent with an innate threat-detection bias rather than a shared external visitor.
